Mobile 3D scanning studio · 85 cameras · up to Ø 12 m

One moment. From every angle.

85 cameras fire at the same instant. The result is a 3D scan you can turn, flip and view from every side. People, animals, products, whole groups and athletes in mid-motion.

Services

From a frozen moment to motion in 3D

Our core

3D multi-camera rig

85 cameras, triggered in sync, in a full circle, on several levels, in a semicircle or arranged freely. This lets us capture people, animals, products and entire scenes in a single moment.

One moment

3D Gaussian Splatting

All cameras fire once. The result is a photorealistic 3D scene you can rotate freely and view from every side. We have offered this since 2023, which made us one of the first teams in the world to do so.

Motion over time Research & development

4D Gaussian Splatting & Volumetric Video

Instead of a single moment, we capture an entire movement in 3D. We have already gained extensive experience with this and keep developing the process. Commercially, we currently offer 3D scans.

4D Gaussian Splatting: an entire movement as a 3D scene, playable from any angle

Outdoor location scans

For places larger than any camera rig, we scan with drones, handheld scanners and other methods. The result is explorable 3D models of spots, buildings and landscapes. References on request.

Indoor location scans

We capture interiors with specialised scanners such as the XGRIDS PortalCam. Halls, studios, shops and entire buildings become 3D models you can move through freely. References on request.

Consulting

We advise on 3D and 4D Gaussian Splatting: which method suits your project and how to use the results. We also bring older scans up to date and make them ready for today’s viewers and formats.

What we scan

From products to groups in motion

Because all cameras fire at once, nobody has to hold still. Whatever moves is still captured sharply and completely.

How a scan is made

From the shot to the finished result

Loading 3D scan …
  1. Set up

We set up the camera rig to suit the subject, in the studio, at the event or outdoors on location.

  2. Shoot

All cameras take their photo in sync. The whole moment is captured in a fraction of a second.

  3. Process

From the images, we compute a photorealistic 3D scene using Gaussian Splatting.

  4. Use

A single capture turns into very different results, both digital and physical.

Projects

What we have frozen so far

From climbing crags to trade fairs, street festivals and corporate shoots: a selection of our projects since 2023.

Mobile

The studio comes to you

Our system consists of modular aluminium rails that we assemble into a full circle or a large semicircle, depending on the subject. The rails sit on tripods, so they stand securely even on uneven ground, whether in the studio or outdoors on location.

Cameras
85, triggered in sync, 6000 × 4000 px resolution, RAW format
Full circle
Ø 6 m, full 360°
Several levels
Full circle Ø 6 m, on several levels
Semicircle
Ø 12 m, for groups and large scenes
Setup
Aluminium rails on tripods, adaptable to any surface. On location, the rig can run entirely on batteries if needed, with no mains power.
Data handling
In the studio, the cameras are connected via USB and results can be viewed within seconds. On location, they save to memory cards.
Locations
Studio, events, outdoor spots
Methods

Who’s behind it

We bring action sports photography and technology together. We know how to catch a jump at exactly the right moment, and we build the software that turns it into a 3D scene.

Photography · Production

Lars Scharl

Action sports photographer. He has shot some of the biggest moments in action sports, from Kelly McGarry’s legendary canyon gap flip at Red Bull Rampage and Cam Zink’s 100-foot flip in Mammoth to Josh Sheehan’s FMX triple backflip at Pastranaland. Ever since he saw “The Matrix” in the cinema, he dreamed of his own bullet-time rig for action sports sessions. In early 2023 it became reality, and now it’s about thinking big and trying new things.

Technology · Development

Felix Hirt

Artist and developer. A computer science graduate, he works actively on 3D and 4D reconstruction. He has also been in show business since 2007 and has appeared on German TV shows such as Galileo and TV Total. He is a four-time splashdiving world champion, German national trampoline champion and holds a world record for jumping from the 10-metre platform.

3D design · Gaussian Splatting

Chris Rebmann

3D designer. Chris was the one who first brought 3D Gaussian Splatting together with our multi-camera system and made our first steps with it possible.
